Riteish Deshmukh had been working on his passion project, ‘Raja Shivaji’, for a long time. Now, the film has finally been released in theatres and is receiving love from the audience. The movie is based on the life of the founder of the Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.Reportedly, the movie was filmed simultaneously in Marathi and Hindi. Well, the Marathi version is raking in big numbers at the box office, while its Hindi counterpart is scoring decently in collections.

On its debut day in theatres, the Hindi version of ‘Raja Shivaji’ had raked in Rs 3.35 crore across 4,251 shows. According to the Sacnilk report, on day 2, the Hindi version of the period drama has minted Rs 3.40 crore across 4,295 shows. With that, the total net collection has reached Rs 6.75 crore.Meanwhile, the overall collection (including Hindi and Marathi) on day 2 was Rs 10.55 crore, which pushed the total India net collection to Rs 21.90 crore.

The Riteish Deshmukh starrer is also facing competition from ‘Ek Din’, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, and the Hollywood releases – the Michael Jackson biopic titled ‘Michael’ and the fashion flick ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’.Not just that, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is also running in select cinemas.
