Meerut hospital staff flees after patient dies, owner detained

BAREILLY: A 22-year-old man died at a private Hospital in Meerut on Saturday night, seven days after he was admitted. Mohammed Faraz of Bani Sarai of Kotwali underwent surgery that evening. Family members allege doctors prevented them from meeting Faraz post-operation, and only declared him dead when they insisted on seeing him.Vineet Chaprana, a social activist, told TOI, “Faraz died due to negligence observed by a doctor during a chest operation. We seek to verify the doctor’s degree and hospital documents, and if any faults are found, the hospital should be sealed.”Angry relatives created a disturbance at the hospital. Hospital staff fled the scene as the situation escalated. Police from Lohiyanagar station arrived and detained hospital owner Abdul Jabbar.The hospital staff maintained that the surgery was successful, but the patient died suddenly.Police said, the owner has been detained.
