From just 7 in 2014, the BJP has kept adding state after state, to reach 22 in 2026. In the same period, Congress and allies have fallen from 14 to 6, while regional and other parties are down from 7 to 3.
The shift is stark enough to be captured geographically: you can now drive from India’s border with China in the Northeast to the border with Pakistan in the west without leaving BJP-NDA territory.
