Salem: A 42-year-old man stabbed his father to death over a property dispute at Sanniyasigundu near Kitchipalayam on Wednesday. According to police, Sridhar had been pressuring his father to transfer a parcel of 10,000sqft ancestral property in Raja Pillai Kadu area at Kitchipalayam to his name for a long time. “On Wednesday, Sridhar visited his father’s house, and the duo got into an argument. When Dhanapal refused to yield to his demands, Sridhar stabbed him in the chest with a kitchen knife, killing him on the spot,” said the officer.When Sridhar’s younger sister, Priya rushed to assist her father, he attacked her with the knife, which left her injured.Upon hearing her cry for help, neighbours rushed to the spot, restrained Sridhar and alerted the officials. Police registered a case, arrested Sridhar and sent Dhanapal’s body to the Salem govt hospital for postmortem. Sridhar worked at a vegetable shop and had been living with his wife in the Sankari area for the past few years.
