Trump Mobile CEO provides update on “T1” smartphone availability, says the ‘delays were…’

After a year of missed deadlines, changes to the fine print and mounting customer frustration, Trump Mobile is finally ready to deliver. According to a report by Fortune, Pat O’Brien, CEO of Trump Mobile, confirmed that the company will begin shipping its “T1” smartphone this week to customers who placed $100 deposits during the pre-order launch last June. The journey of the T1 has been a rocky one. Originally scheduled for an August 2025 release, the phone was hit by a string of delays that pushed the date to November, then December, and finally into early 2026. At one point, customer service representatives blamed a government shutdown for not releasing the phone to the public.During this waiting period, the company’s website started selling refurbished iPhones and Samsung smartphones while the T1 underwent three separate redesigns. While O’Brien did not offer a specific explanation for the year-long wait, he maintained that the “delays were worth it” to ensure a high-quality product.

A $100 deposit and fine print that ‘worried’ users

In a recent controversy, the company “quietly” updated its terms and conditions with the new language stating that Trump Mobile “does not guarantee that a Device will be produced or made available for purchase,” and that a deposit only provided a “conditional opportunity” to buy the phone. The update sparked a wave of anxiety among the customers who had already handed over their cash. However, O’Brien has now dismissed the speculation that the phones would never arrive. He said that the phone has been cleared for use by federal regulators, has received PTCRB certification, a requirement for working on major US carriers, and the T1 was recently added to the official list of devices certified to use Google’s app ecosystem. The T1 is said to be designed to stand out. The phone features a striking gold exterior with an American flag emblazoned on the back. While early marketing suggested the device would be “Made in the USA,” the current messaging has shifted, stating the phone is instead “designed with American values in mind.”
