Mysuru: District health officer Dr PC Kumaraswamy on Thursday launched Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance facility services funded by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) under the CSR. Speaking after launching the services at the DHO office premises, he said that the facility will help people of Hunsur and adjoining areas to utilise during emergency operations, as the national highway stretch connecting to Hunsur was witnessing an increasing number of road accidents in recent years.The ambulance facility has basic life-supporting features, including oxygen supply and a suction machine, and is equipped with other life-saving drugs.The newly launched facility will help about two lakh population of Hunsur taluk in addition to the other two ambulance services that were available for people of the taluk. Launching of additional ambulance services also helped pregnant mothers shift to Mysuru for NICU care from Hunsur, as district health authorities recorded four to five critical cases daily from Hunsur taluk.Health department officers Mohammed Siraj, Gopinath, Hunsur taluk health officer Dr Shivashankar, HPCL pipeline division executive director Ramesh, deputy general manager B Vijayakumar and others were present.
