Light rain in Delhi again on Tuesday

New Delhi: Delhi’s tryst with rain is expected to continue, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light spells on Tuesday.The city has seen light rain and below-normal temperatures off and on for the past 15 days, after an unseasonably warm start in March.According to IMD, another western disturbance, alongside a cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan and central Pakistan, is expected to impact weather in northwest India.On Saturday, the maximum temperature was 32 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. The minimum was 20.7 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees above normal, due to overcast skies trapping heat during the night.Light rain was reported between 11.30 pm on Friday and 8.30 am on Saturday at Palam (1.9 mm), Lodhi Road (0.3 mm), Ridge (1.9 mm) and Ayanagar (5.8 mm).IMD has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday, forecasting one or two spells of very light to light rain during the day, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of speed 30-40 kmph.The maximum temperature over the next six days is expected to remain below 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to remain under 20 degrees Celsius.The air quality, meanwhile, improved significantly from 266 (poor) on Friday to 137 (moderate) on Saturday after rains and an increase in wind speed. According to Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS), AQI will remain moderate till Friday.
