A day before the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Supreme Court delivered a sharp reprimand to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The top court stated that her intervention in an ongoing investigation has placed democratic processes in jeopardy. The court's comments came during a hearing on Wednesday.
The bench stated that this is not a Centre versus State dispute but a situation where a Chief Minister is "interfering" in a probe at a critical stage.
