In 2026, TMC has nominated Sandipan Saha, while the BJP fields Priyanka Tibrewal, a lawyer and party leader who contested the Bhawanipore by-election against Mamata Banerjee in 2021.In 2021, sitting TMC MLA Swarna Kamal Saha retained the seat, with the TMC polling approximately 65 per cent of valid votes against the BJP’s 28 per cent. In 2016, Saha again prevailed from Entally, which he has held continuously since 2011, making him one of the most firmly entrenched TMC MLAs in Kolkata North. The constituency has a voter turnout that generally hovers around the high sixties in assembly elections.Entally is a historic area of Kolkata, associated with the city’s old bazaar culture and significant Muslim and working-class populations. The nomination of Tibrewal by the BJP brings a combative and well-known opponent to what is otherwise a relatively safe TMC seat.
