Patna ranks second nationwide in Swachh Survekshan citizen feedback

Patna: Patna currently ranks second in the country in terms of citizen participation in the ongoing Swachh Survekshan 2025-26 feedback campaign, with nearly 4.5 lakh residents having taken part in the cleanliness survey as of Saturday.According to official data released by the Swachh Bharat Mission, Indore currently leads the country with over 6.81 lakh responses, followed by Patna with 4,49,689 feedback, while Lucknow, Prayagraj and Agra round out the top five-performing cities. This massive surge in public participation is expected to significantly bolster the city’s overall ranking in the national cleanliness competition.To sustain this momentum, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has deployed 13 specialised two-member teams, consisting of senior officials and consultants, to conduct awareness drives across the capital. These teams are providing live demonstrations on feedback submission at high-traffic locations, including railway stations, malls and parks. Officials said they noticed a particular surge in enthusiasm among the students’ population, with massive turnouts reported at coaching hubs like Boring Road, Musallahpur Hat and Ashok Rajpath.The feedback process involves 13 critical questions focused on urban services such as daily waste collection, the segregation of wet and dry waste at the source and the efficiency of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) centres. The survey also measures public satisfaction regarding the maintenance of public toilets and the municipal grievance redressal system. Under the revised Swachh Survekshan guidelines, citizen feedback accounts for 1,000 marks of the total 12,500-point evaluation, which also includes 9,500 marks for on-ground assessment and 2,000 marks for specialised certifications like ‘Water Plus and Garbage Free City’ status.Residents can register their feedback through the official portal at cf.sbmurban.org using a mobile-linked OTP verification system. Municipal authorities have emphasised that the feedback provided online will be cross-verified by central teams during field visits. In an appeal to the public, the PMC urged residents to maintain waste segregation and utilise the toll-free number or the dedicated WhatsApp chatbot for reporting cleanliness issues, highlighting that improving the city’s national standing is a collective responsibility between the administration and its citizens.
