Ranchi: A team of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation, led by additional municipal commissioner Sanjay Kumar, on Saturday inspected the biogas plant set up by GAIL (India) Limited at Jhiri along Ranchi Ring Road and directed officials to increase the supply to 100 tonnes per day.Two units of the plant have a capacity of 150 metric tonnes each and are designed to process wet waste into bio-CNG and organic compost. The civic body supplies around 75 to 80 tonnes of wet waste to the plant daily.Reviewing complaints regarding rejection of some waste loads due to the presence of mixed and dry waste, Kumar instructed officials to strengthen segregation at Material Recovery Facility (MRF) centres so that wet and dry waste are separated before being sent to the plant. “If mixed waste is reaching the facility, efforts should be made at all levels to minimise rejection and improve processing efficiency,” he said.
