Prayagraj: Marking the completion of 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led union govt, state Cabinet minister and district in-charge Swatantra Dev Singh on Sunday highlighted the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in changing the fortunes of the country as well as UP through his firm resolve and determination. He said that Modi has worked extensively for the welfare of the poor over the past 12 years because he understands poverty. “Coming from a poor family and having endured poverty himself, the PM understands what poverty means. His achievements include providing permanent houses to four crore people, food to 81 crore people, and toilets to 12 crore households. In UP, rations have been provided to 15 crore people, and over nine lakh people have secured jobs. If anyone has provided permanent houses to four crore people, it is Modi,” he said.Singh said that under Modi’s leadership over the past 12 years, the Union govt has worked for every section of society. He added that Modi was the first PM to personally pick up a broom in Kashi, and now lakhs of domestic and foreign visitors perform ‘parikrama’ (circumambulation) there. The minister further said that people should not let go of the Modi-Yogi leadership, as the development work done by the BJP govt in UP is unprecedented under the ‘double-engine’ govt. “Thanks to cleanliness and clean water, children in Gorakhpur no longer die from Japanese Encephalitis,” the minister claimed. He also said that India does not merely endure terrorist attacks but responds by striking inside enemy territory, citing surgical strikes and ‘Operation Sindoor’ as examples.During a cleanliness and community interaction programme, the Cabinet minister honoured beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), sanitation workers, and women from self-help groups.
