XREAL launches affordable AR glasses sub-brand, starting at $299

XREAL has launched a new sub-brand called X By XREAL (xbx), aimed squarely at making AR glasses more accessible. Its first product, the a01, is priced at $299 and goes on sale in the US in July. The headline spec is brightness: 1,600 nits with HDR10 support, which XREAL claims is the highest in this category. The a01 uses dual-layer MicroOLED displays and a dedicated image enhancement chip to produce 1.07 billion colors, with a 50° field of view that replicates a 147-inch screen from four meters away.At 62g, it’s also among the lightest AR glasses available. XREAL achieved that by using a custom ultra-light nylon body, thinner lenses, and a redesigned hinge-and-temple structure.

A spatial anti-shake mode designed for commuters and travelers

One of the more practical additions is what XREAL calls a spatial anti-shake algorithm—built for use on subways, trains, and planes. The company says most anti-shake solutions trade sharpness for stability; this one is designed to preserve image clarity while still cutting down on motion blur. The a01 is a 0 degrees-of-freedom device, meaning the display stays locked to the wearer’s head rather than floating in space—a tradeoff that keeps things simple but limits spatial interaction.Design gets some attention too. The front frames are interchangeable, the body is semi-transparent, and XREAL is making 3D-printable frame templates available for anyone who wants a custom look. Three nose pad sizes and flexible temples round out the ergonomics. The a01 is already available in China. US availability starts in July at $299.
